GPS Asset Tracking with Cartrack

What is Asset Tracking?

Cartrack can successfully monitor other assets

Cartrack can track almost any moving asset from money boxes to trailers, cranes, boats and more.

Asset positioning is recorded at set intervals, up to three times a day, and upon detection of motion. Typical applications include periodic positioning of assets such as generators, containers, trailers and most other movable items.

Want to know if your gear has been moved overnight? We can help

In fact, we recommend to track everything because even in safe and secure New Zealand, theft happens. Frankly it’s a real mess trying to recover tools afterwards. A very simple, small device can be your solution.

  • Compact GPS/GSM device without external antennae
  • Configurable time and motion-based tracking
  • Typically used to track trailers, jet skis, and many other unpowered assets.

Asset positioning is recorded at set intervals, up to three times a day, and upon detection of motion. Typical applications include periodic positioning of assets such as generators, containers, trailers and most other movable items.

Will be good to give examples of how it is used for different industries, say construction, plumbers, earthmovers, transport, security, because that has to inspire readers imagination

Involves any assets that are not self-powered. Tracking device gets power from asset that its tracking. If that’s not available we provide large back up battery. Object for battery to last as long as possible. Std config to achieve this but to achieve tracking that is useful is for the device to send position once a day if stationary, send position when motion starts, needs to be in motion for a minute to gauge proper momentum and not wind etc. send position once motion ends for 3 minutes.

Depending on use of asset, back up battery with that config could last 6 months – 2 years. We monitor the battery level and we send clients replacement batteries when they get to 20% at no extra charge, clients install themselves.

Important caveat with AT

  • with GPS, it can’t position itself under a metal cover, interrupts the signal i.e., parking garage. So, we have GPS until the last moment it’s on until it’s under the garage
  • With asset track it doesn’t get tracked the same. Movement stops while you’re inside your garage. It happens with all GPS (the radio signal is interrupted).
